Anyway, check hers out for pure entertainment - she has the "Gaslight Series" and each book takes place in a neighborhood of NYC. I am now on her 7th - Murder in Little Italy.

Ciao!Ohhttp://westcobich.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6874411986410157945.post-6844979055044964542009-04-18T17:54:00.000-05:002009-04-18T17:54:00.000-05:00Oooooh, I like this one and though I should give i...Oooooh, I like this one and though I should give it more thought, I'll jump in now...

Overall, movies to books don't work for me. Not enough depth or structure and as I'm reading the book, I'm only thinking about the movie. Can I think of an example right now? Um, no. I'm just saying.

Book or series to become a movie? Well, I mention one that probably others don't know. But somehow, probably because there's an awesome little mystery bookstore in the Central West End of St. Louis where I happened one day (really, it was like magic - I didn't even know it was there 'til last year!) anyway, while there, I happened to pick up a mystery by Victoria Thompson, who rights turn-of-the-century (20th) about a midwife in NYC and an Irish detective. I now own and have read 7 of hers, in a row. I enjoy them greatly. It would make a WONDERFUL TV series. Who to play Ms Brandt (the midwife)? Hmmmm...maybe Selma Blair. She has the right mix of "uptown shishi" with the dark hair and flexibility to play a society girl who married a liberal-minded doctor. The cop Frank Malloy? Well we could give it some zip and use Colin whats-his-name (not Firth; I mean the troublesome actor,) or Sean Penn, if he would consider it - actually, he'd be quite good. But he wouldn't do TV. Still, you get the idea...Ohhttp://westcobich.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
