R.I.P.

While I do love me a good summer afternoon, a nice crisp fall day with lots of sunshine is quite nice as well. This will be my first time joining the R.I.P challenge, and I am going to embark on Peril the First, which is to read four books of any subgenre of scary stories. I'm opting to just make a list of potential books and pick the ones that interest me.

So how's this for a start:

I Am Legend
Unholy Domain
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
Vampyres of Hollywood
We Have Always Lived in the Castle

At the moment I'm too lazy to search my bookshelf any further. Most of the books I've listed so far are within my line of vision. I feel sure there will be many, many more books added as I get the chance to browse other reviews.

Happy reading, Kim! I'm thinking of joining the challenge but my reading mood has been fluctuating quite badly, I'm staying away from reading challenges for a while. I tend to deviate from my planned readings... :)

I had fun reading for the RIP II Challenge, Kim! But I'm afraid I can't participate in more challenges now. *sigh*

I can't wait to read what you'll think of The Thirteenth Tale; I enjoyed it so much!

The Thirteenth Tale is lovely! I read that for last year's RIP!

I really enjoyed I Am Legend, though I finished it after seeing the recent film. It was quite different, but has really stuck with me and has obviously had a real impact on modern horror/fantasy literature. I hope you like it!

I'll definitely look forward to how this goes for you (i've sworn of challenges because I'm terrible at finishing them) - Castle is on my TBR list, so I'll be very eager to hear how you like it.

"At the moment I'm too lazy to search my bookshelf any further. Most of the books I've listed so far are within my line of vision."--Oh yes, I can so relate! You crack me up, girl!

I've got two of those (The Thirteenth Tale and We Have Always Lived in a Castle) on my list, too. Of course, who knows what I'll actually read.

I am SO BEHIND ON BLOG READING! But I'm back in business, so maybe I can catch up over the weekend.

Love your list! Three cheers for I Am Legend because it's on my list too. And I forgot to add The Thirteenth Tale! It's staring at me from the shelves as we speak.

This is my second RIP and it is by far my most favorite book challenge. Enjoy!

alice teh-well, this is a good challenge for you then because you can just make a big list and narrow it down as you want.

melody-too many books already? It is a common dilemma!

lightheaded-I hope I like it!

mariel-yeah, I liked the recent movie, and I hope the book doesn't suffer by comparison

andi-well, this is a good anti-challenge as you can pick one book to read!

debi-I'm sure as a busy mother you can relate to feeling lazy sometimes :-)

andi-I hear you, I am in the same boat.

stephanie, thanks, I will!

about We Have Always Lived in the Castle...for some reason, I have always remembered the first line, always: "I write this sitting in the kitchen sink."
Why did I enjoy this book? Cuz I couldn't believe that someone who created 101 Dalmatians would also write this very British, rather quirky-family novel? I guess so.
Maybe it was the time and place that I read it. A fall afternoon (yes,I remember that.) And someone gave the book to me. Hardcover. Used, a lovely kind of used. Loved.
So I read it.
And I liked it.
I liked it so much I decided to rent the movie a couple years later when it came out. Ugh.
Read the book.
Skip the movie.
Enjoy!

Hey Kim I am really glad you signed up to this too. I really must get around to The Thirteenth Tale at some point too.
