Book Giveaways! And Booking Through Thursday!

If you would like some free books, here are some great giveaways going on right now:

Wendy at caribousmom is giving away Lisey's Story by Stephen King on Valentine's Day

If you are participating in the YA Challenge, and linked a post in January, Joy is giving away a signed copy of Violet on the Runway by Melissa Walker. Click here for details.

Like I mentioned before, Renay is hosting the February Bookworms Carnival, so send her your submissions asap before the 8th. Her theme is speculative fiction and she has 12 submissions so far, so look through your blog, people and help her out! If you promote the carnival on your blog, you can be entered to win 2 free books.

Stephanie at The Written Word is giving away a copy of The Friday Night Knitting Club at her blog, plus a Starbucks gift card! Just post a comment at her post here.

Okay, even I can’t read ALL the time, so I’m guessing that you folks might voluntarily shut the covers from time to time as well… What else do you do with your leisure to pass the time? Walk the dog? Knit? Run marathons? Construct grandfather clocks? Collect eggshells?

Well first of all, when I'm not reading, I'm trying to keep my blog updated. And when I'm not doing either of those two things, I might be writing, or playing with my puppy, or hanging out with my husband. Ever once in a while, when I really get a burst of energy, I scrapbook. I always get to where I'm about a year behind, then stop until I'm so far behind it isn't funny.

A hobby I've gladly given up now is TV. After graduating college just over a year ago, I started watching too much of it (out of reflex, I suppose since I actually had the time). Luckily, the writer's strike, then my start into blogging means I haven't watched an episode of TV in weeks. I don't even miss it! So writers, feel free to keep striking. You're letting the rest of us get on with our lives.

Your post makes me smile. Of course I'd choose writing over anything, besides reading that is! And I seldom watch TV nowadays, I still have a stack of DVDs yet to be watched!

Breaking the old TV addiction is just so freeing, isn't it? I do still watch a little, but for the most part I can live without it. And as for scrapbooking--don't feel bad, I'm literally 20 years behind! But I refuse to stress about it anymore--I mean it is supposed to be a fun thing, right?

I love not watching TV! And yes, in some ways the strike has been lovely! However I do watch DVDs late at night for relaxation.

melody-glad I could make you smile! Yeah my husband and I have netflix, so we always have options when we feel like watching TV.

debi-yes no TV is so freeing! It like I either have to watch no TV at all or I end up watching too much. And yes! scrapbooking is supposed to be fun! I love doing scrapbooking parties with friends, I end up getting so much done when I just block some time to do it. No need to stress!

She rants-Yeah I feel bad for those who still need to watch TV. My gosh every time I do flick on the TV there is some stupid reality show that's brought TV to a new low. And we all thought TV couldn't reach lower

Ah, I've stopped watching TV too - it takes too much effort to get home in time for the shows. But I still watch a lot of DVDs.

I'm worried about the writer's strike, because I hate to think some of my favourite shows are not going to be continued for a long time.

I need Season 3 of House!

I will say I could use more of The Office. It alleviates the stress of actually working in an office.

This week's BTT question was really fun. It's interesting to see what everyone likes doing with the rest of their free time.

I have done a little bit of scrap bookings and need to do some more when I have sorted out the spare room.

karen!- it is fun to see what other people like to do.

Rhinoa-scrapbooking is a bit addictive, I have to warn you. And expensive. But I really enjoy it.
