What’s your favorite book that nobody else has heard of? You know, not Little Women or Huckleberry Finn, not the latest best-seller . . . whether they’ve read them or not, everybody “knows” those books. I’m talking about the best book that, when you tell people that you love it, they go, “Huh? Never heard of it?”
For me, it is definitely Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone or hmmm.... the Bible. I always get blank looks and "huh?" when I drop those titles. So I guess that makes me a real book snob.
Okay I'll look for a real answer once I get home and can look at my bookshelf. I'm blanking on titles now, my brain being in "work mode". (AKA barely awake mode).
*** UPDATES: I looked at my shelf and discovered my real answer: Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen by Garth Nix. Okay if you are a fantasy lover, you have no doubt heard of Garth Nix, but no one I know has ever heard of him or read his books. I loved the first book in the series so much, I bought the next two as soon as they came out, and I even broke down and bought hardcovers (I never buy hardcovers-too expensive). The books stuck me with me so much that I actually had dreams about fighting off Dead Hands and Necromancers in the Old Kingdom. I loaned my copies to a previous boyfriend and we broke up, and I never did get them back. So what did my wonderful husband do? He bought me a set this Christmas to make up for it.

I actually did read the first 'Harry Potter' at a point in history when people did say 'who?' It's hard now to remember that there was such a time!
I have read Harry Potter's books just haven't finish the whole series :)
In the mean time I'll come back to check if you decided to list more books *grin*

Although I've done my part to get the word out about it on my blog over the years, Larry Niven's unsung classic, A World Out of Time, is certainly one of my favorite books that no one has heard about.

TT-Wow, it is hard to believe that there was a day like that. I sadly didn't get into reading the books until much later.

Carl-That sounds like an interesting book. I have read Ringworld, but that's it for Larry Niven. Guess I'll have to pick that one up.
I actually did say Huh? when a friend of mine suggested Harry Potter to me around 6-7 years ago. [*grins*]
