Booking Through Thursday

Following up last week’s question about reading writing/grammar guides, this week, we’re expanding the question….

Scenario: You’ve just bought some complicated gadget home . . . do you read the accompanying documentation? Or not?

Do you ever read manuals?
How-to books?
Self-help guides?
Anything at all?

I pretty much always at least skim the manuals that accompany my electronic devices because without them, I'd never be able to use the dang thing. Yeah I'm kind of weird like that.

So yes, I read manuals when needed.

I do not, however, read self-help books. I spent time studying real psychology in college, and I'm a bit snobby about pop psychology.

I don't read them unless it's necessary (or an emergency!!). Most of the times, I ask the hubs first. ;)

I am convinced that reading directions will help speed up the process. Even when cooking a simple recipe my husband will ask me what the next step is. I take over the box or the book and say--it says RIGHT HERE... It aggrevates me to no end. :) Men and their directions!

I agree about pop psychology. It puts me off too!

My BTT post!

I read manuals for the fun of it. I read cereal boxes, hair gel tubes, anything with alphabets on them... Weird eh...

I love self-help and non-fictions and only ventured into fiction mid of last year.

I scan them when necessary and usually after I have messed something up in the first place (without reading the manual)....

melody-I do refer to my husband quite a bit. He's pretty good about electronic stuff.

trish-heehee. My husband is the cook in our family, so when I do cook, I have to follow the recipe pretty closely.

gautami tripathy-yay another snob!

alice teh-what a hobby :-) That is great that you got hooked on fiction now. I can't imagine my life without it!

seachanges-isn't that how it always goes??
